We have an immediate opening for a Prep Chef. 2 Doors Down Food & Wine is a full service restaurant open seven days a week, 11:00 am-10:00 pm. We are noted for our seasonal, locally sourced approach to our menu and cocktail program.

This key position in our kitchen requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Prep Chef is responsible for helping to create and maintain quality experiences for each guest that comes to 2 Doors Down Food + Wine through consistent product preparation.

Wage will be dependent on experience and abilities, and will be negotiated during the probationary period.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and portion a variety of hot & cold food menu items from standardized, large batch recipes.

Measures and mixes ingredients to make salad dressings, sauces, soups, and other foods following recipes.

Organize daily production, efficiently and consistently, based on requirements from the Chef and/or Sous Chef.

Distributes food to kitchens and food service areas to be cooked or served to customers.

Requirements

Formal training from a recognized culinary program or equivalent experience. Experience as a Prep Cook or a similar role is an asset but not a requirement.

Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow directions for equipment and recipe production.

Understanding of protocols for safe food handling and preparation.

Knowledge of food handling and safety regulations. A certificate in food safety is an asset but not a requirement.

Computer literacy.

Strong organizational ability is essential to this position.

Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
